"FRIENDS, REBELS, STARFIGHTERS, LEND ME YOUR EARS"

This last month, I discovered the most incredible thing I've seen in a few years.
It is...
William Shakespeare's Star Wars by Ian Doescher.
HOLY COW!!!
Star Wars as Shakespeare!!!
Two of my favorite things are Star Wars and William Shakespeare and in this book they are combined.  Frickin' Genius.
I loved it from the opening page.
VERILY, A NEW HOPE!!!
Not only is it the whole movie screenplay as a Shakespeare play in Shakespearean language but the characters are also given speeches and soliloquies just like every Shakespeare play and that's where awesome becomes hilarious and a bit profound.
Now, some of the speeches are derivative of other Shakespeare monologues and border on the silly but then there are others that are wholly original and quite good.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves Star Wars, loves Shakespeare, and everyone in between.

"There let our heroes rest free from attack,
Till darkness rise and Empire striketh back."

AWESOME!!!
